Daughter has a short term 12 month lease on her apartment, she wants to renew at the end of the lease for a further 12 months. The lease expires in July.
The contract says that the rent cannot be increased by more than 3% on renewal, but the landlord is now looking for a 10% increase or they will have to more out.
Is the landlord within his rights to do that ? i.e. either she pays up or moves out, irrespective of the 3% clause.
