I’m hoping to ask a question- my DP are looking to relocate to where I live to help me with childcare. They were told to even look at houses they had to have sold their house, so they have done this and is now marked as SSTC. Despite this one of the local estate agents is still refusing to let them view a property (they were on the mailing list so received warning it was going onto the market and it has gone love today) without a memorandum of sale which my parents estate agent says they don’t issue until everyone in the chain has instructed solicitors. Their estate agent is telling everyone to hold off instructing solicitors at the moment until the chain is complete due to everyone finding it difficult to find houses to move to in the current climate.
Can they do this? The agent this property is being marketed with will let you look around if you have your property on sale with them but not yet under offer. It feels like they are being very naughty and just trying to get double the commission. Also I would not be happy as a seller to find out they were blocking legitimate buyers.
