No period 6 months post partum, concerned

Hi there,

My baby has been exclusively bottle fed since 2 weeks old, he's now almost 6.5 months. My partner and I are keen to start trying for DC2 as we'd love them close in age, however I've not even had a whiff of a period. No spotting or cramps or anything.

Bottle feeders, when did yours come back? Should I go to the docs?

Can't help because I ebf to 4 months but first time around mine didn't come back for quite a while after I stoped around 6 months. I went to the doctors and got the combined pill and went on it for a couple of months and this provided a reset. Came off it, fertile again. 🤷‍♀️

I breastfed for a couple of weeks, pumped then had to stop due to complications.

I then bottle fed. I didn't get my period for about 6/7 months maybe even longer. I was told not to expect periods to return to normal until around a year (not sure how sound this advice is, but i took it?) and sure enough, no intervention and all is settled near enough, I have a 2 1/2 year old.....

If you are worried contact your GP but I'm sure things will settle

Both of my boys were bottle fed from early on and I didn't get periods back for at least 6 months. My daughter was breastfed and it was a year.

I think your body is telling you it is not ready to grow another baby yet.

I breastfed for 7 months and then bottle fed exclusively after taking 1 month to wean my baby. It took 8 months for my period to return after I stopped. I went to my obgyn and nothing was wrong but she gave me some medication to kick-start it if I wanted but I never ended up needing it as it turned up not long after the appointment.
