Anyone used this airport, is it less hassle than a major one ?
Its never given as an airport choice of most holidays, but I think they do (or did) flights to a lot of cities abroad

Best airport ever. But you’re right v geared towards business flights. I always try and use it.

I fly in and out of City Airport twice every month.

Check-in and security are nearly always a breeze. Its pretty small so not much running around. Shops and restaurants are very limited in the departure lounge and very expensive. But otherwise its the best London Airport by a long way.

Much less hassle! It's tiny and tends to be business travellers who don't faff about in quite the same way that holiday makers do (although that might have changed since Covid). The departure lounge is more like an airport lobby than an airport.

Another resounding vote from me. Great airport.

Love it.

Shabbycoconut · 11/05/2022 13:14

Love it. I used to regularly travel for work, always really easy to get through in comparison to the bigger airports.

RandomQuest · 11/05/2022 13:18

Best airport ever. The only thing is that if you’d usually go BA Club Europe it’s generally not worth it since the planes are mostly a 2x2 configuration anyway, there aren’t any lounges and there aren’t really any queues to try to skip anyway. So you’re paying A LOT more and all you really get for it is a ready meal and seat up front!

Thanks, I think it would be a lot easier for me, I can get to London on the train in an hour, assume you dont have to get there hours before the flight either !

If you get there too early, they won't let you check your luggage in!

LadyJGrey · 12/05/2022 01:02

Defintely not, even 30 mins before your flight at London City is acceptable but obviously check the airline baggage drop rules first! DH arrived 20 mins before his flight last week - unintentionally, but still got on the plane which took off on time!
