Wardrobes... built in or free standing?

Redoing our bedroom from scratch. Have a new bed (Emma..very comfy after years on a cheap crappy one) new floor... need new wardrobes. I can't decide whether to go for built in sliding door ones across the end of the room (approx 300cm) or get a big free standing one plus a chest of drawers . Need bed side tables too.

Any recommendations gratefully received! (for either type!) I like Ikea PAX but they are having huge stock issues so am not going down that route although I love their wire mesh trays!

Built in are my dream

We inherited built in wardrobes and I bloody hate them. They are damp to the extent we can't use them and I have to bleach their walls to stop black mould from growing. But pulling them out, replastering ceilings and walls and putting down new carpet would cost thousands so we are stuck with them stinking and wasting space. I long for some lovely freestanding wardrobes from Heals or John Lewis. When we move...
