DH and I (+ 3 primary kids) live in midlands and want to move further south to be by the coast for health reasons and closer to DH family in East Kent (but don’t want to be in Kent itself due to Kent Test in school system). We’ve been going around in circles the past 6 months trying to find a coastal town in south/south east that doesn’t feel rundown and has half decent schools and doesn’t cost the earth.. We can’t afford Brighton, Hove or villages around there and don’t want to go too far west, E.g. Chichester. Have been to Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne and Hastings and none felt right - the latter two being a bit too towny. Have started looking at Bexhill-on-sea. I know it’s known as a retirement place, but it does have decent affordable housing.
Anyone from the area able to shed light on what it’s like? Grown up there? Would the kids hate me!? The beach and prom look nice (albeit pebbles)..
