Would you eat this?

I often see these threads and think "of course I'd eat that", but I'm having a crisis of confidence.

Chicken fried rice made on Friday night. Has been in the fridge since. If it smells alright, would you eat it? I'm having a bit of a wobble because it's rice, and I'd usually try to eat it within a couple of days.

What do you think?

No.

JurasicPerks · 10/05/2022 15:46

Yes, if the rice has only been heated once.
No if rice has been boiled, cooled, fried, cooled.

larkstar · 10/05/2022 15:47

If it smells OK, had been in the fridge since it was cooked I'd eat it.

Yes without hesitation. I’ve reheated takeout rice literally 100s if not 1000s of times and never once been unwell. People are hysterical about use bys/reheating on here.

iggybop · 10/05/2022 15:54

No

ToiletGambles · 10/05/2022 15:55

Agree with PP's that it has been reheated to make the fried rice, the original cooking of the rice could have been 2 days before it was made into fried rice. Might be nearly a week old! Definitely avoid...

5 day old rice with meat in, nope.

springtimeishereagain · 10/05/2022 16:04

No!!!

dottiedodah · 10/05/2022 16:21

No I really wouldnt ! 3 days max.5 days Rice and Chicken is a bad mix !

BusterGonad · 10/05/2022 16:30

People go on about rice being really dangerous but in countries in Asia its cooked then sent to school in tins for the kids lunch left in the hall, in the heat etc. Also in shops like 7 Eleven it's on the counter in little pots, to buy, not refrigerated and no air con. I've always reheated rice, I've never given it a second thought. I cook it, eat it then after I've eaten ill put the left overs in the fridge. It gets no special treatment from me.

God no!

donkeyhottie · 10/05/2022 19:03

Ok! I'm still on the fence to be honest.

I would just say that the rice was cooked fresh for the dish.

And really? Only a couple of days for cooked meat? What about the famous MN roast chicken that can feed a family of 10 for a week?!

I would, but I'd put it in the microwave for aaaages so that any bacteria would be killed
