Do your 10 year olds still wear a rash vest abroad?

Off to Turkey in the summer - it'll be HOT

DS was only 8 last time we went away and wore a rash vest all the time in the pool. I've not seen any in his size though when I've been out shopping

What age do kids usually wear them up to?

Mind will be-luckily he likes the look of them as he’s quite pale.
I don’t think many do tho tbh

DelurkingAJ · 09/05/2022 21:44

My nearly 9 year old will be wearing them in France this summer.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 09/05/2022 21:45

My son is 9.5 and he is wearing one this summer. In fact he wears it for general swimming as he is so slight and skinny I'd prefer him to feel less exposed and not have people looking (5th centile).
I have been looking for a new set for him, not found the right one yet but John Lewis do them in bigger sizes.

Matalan had some for the right age range as got for DS

Workyticket · 09/05/2022 21:50

Thanks - will check out Matalan and John Lewis. I found some on Decathlon but they're out of stock online.

He's not fussed and I'd prefer him to wear one as extra protection.

The go up to teenage sizes, have a look online.

Stopsnowing · 09/05/2022 21:51

Yes! Easier than sun cream

Stopsnowing · 09/05/2022 21:51

I also wear one

Inagalaxyfaraway · 09/05/2022 21:52

Look at surf dome they do all ages.

FlickyCrumble · 09/05/2022 21:52

Decathlon stock levels change daily so keep checking for the cheap ones. Marks and Spencer have vests up 14 years.

PragmaticWench · 09/05/2022 21:52

Yes, in this country as well. I wear one as I'm very pale.

Divebar2021 · 09/05/2022 21:52

You can buy them in any size because they’re designed for surfing.

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2022 21:53

My DS wears one in the UK. He's 11 this summer. But then I wear one too.

user1471464218 · 09/05/2022 21:53

Yes mine did. Up til about age 12 but at that stage they then stayed in the shade. I sunbathe to get a tan but I wear a rash vest in the water.

Repetitivebeats · 09/05/2022 21:57

My 14 year old still wears one. We got one for him last year from the women's section in Decathlon. He's at that annoying between child and adult size but a small woman's one fit him fine. I bought myself one too - very handy for things like paddle boarding.
