Best way to thank Dr and hospital staff?

The consultant operated on my DD and was amazing but he operated on her in a different hospital to where we go for her check ups etc. I just want to thank him and event the team whom we normally see. I will get dd to write him a card but want to give something more.
What do you suggest - if you work in such a role or if you have thanked NHS staff in a way you know was received well?

Food always goes well, things that can be shared like biscuits and chocolate. Things over certain price has to be declared so no point doing anything massive. The other thing is to write to someone -PALS or the chief exec to provide feedback of the positive experience-

I bought nice coffee bags, lakeland milk sachets and biscuits for the midwives after giving birth as they have to buy their own at work. seemed to go down well.

A short letter/note which gives positive feedback is always appreciated and has the added bonus of being able to be used in appraisals.

Definitely a letter because they are really good when it comes to our appraisals!

A box of black biros is like a box of gold dust on our ward! Always appreciated!

So do I send the letter directly to the hospital's chief executive or address it to the consultant and give it to him ?

I would send it to him, he can enjoy it then save for his next appraisal.

I sent a nice email directly to the hospital to thank the midwives when I had my son. Then it will likely go to the higher ups first.
