Waffles in a sandwich toaster

Has anyone made waffles in a sandwich toaster? I want to try making sugar waffles and I don't have a waffle iron. Do they turn out well using a sandwich toaster?

Dunno - but you can do potato waffles in a normal toaster.

Not what you were looking for but important people know

We've got plates that switch out on ours - ordinary toasties, waffles and flat for paninis. Waffles work well but bit of a pita to clean afterwards.
Think they'd either be too thick and the centre won't cook fully if you use enough batter to fill the bottom of the sandwich but, or if you used less batter they'd only cook one side.
I'd definitely be tempted to try though!
