Anyone have a 6' bed?

We've currently got a king size so 5'. I thought it seemed big enough but have just come home from holiday where we slept in a huge bed in the hotel and it was fabulous!

I've realised that 5' means each person has 2.5' of sleeping space which is less than a standard single!

Trying to work out if we can fit it in, our bed is quite close to the wardrobes on one side already....

Bloody love our superking, we upgraded from a double at the end of last year and I would never go back to a smaller one!

Gregsprinkles · 08/05/2022 19:13

Two mattresses, one thick mattress topper. Don't know how couples sleep in smaller to be honest. My mum and dad still have a regular double and managed to have to not got divorced Grin

Gregsprinkles · 08/05/2022 19:14

My DH should divorce me for my grammar though

If you have separate mattresses, can you feel the join?

Yes I do and I love it! The only snag is holidays. I’m ruined for anything less now. I’m very careful to check bed sizes. I feel hard done by if I have to sleep in a King Size or heaven forbid a standard double 😩

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/05/2022 19:15

@Gregsprinkles yes that is small for 2 people. Although I remember sleeping with my boyfriend at university in a single bed!

Yes we've had one for years, we'd have divorced by now if we had to share a smaller bed as DH has got restless legs. We originally had 2 mattresses but they were a nightmare to make so we've now got one 6ft.

When we stayed in New York, we had a room with an 8ft bed and it was amazing. Ours felt really cramped when we got back!

20viona · 08/05/2022 19:32

Superking is the way.

RandomMess · 08/05/2022 19:58

Quite frankly separate rooms is far superior GrinWink

ThereWillBeSnacks · 08/05/2022 20:05

Super king, single mattress, double duvet each. Bliss.

DownTownAbbey2 · 08/05/2022 20:10

We have a super king size, it’s amazing, the only disadvantage is I now have to book
the same for any holidays I go on,

Arthursmom · 08/05/2022 20:12

Yes! And it's fabulous! Especially when the kids join us...

GingeryLemons · 08/05/2022 20:21

We have a super king amd it is glorious. Consider getting 2 double duvets with matching covers rather than a massive super king duvet, though. Cheaper on the whole, as well as easier to sleep. Use the money you saved on getting some high quality fitted sheets.

KindergartenKop · 08/05/2022 20:26

We used to have separate single mattresses and it was useful to know when DH had strayed onto my side 😡

Now we have a better mattress and it's just one big one. I prefer it because it's more comfy.

Deadivy · 08/05/2022 21:11

We have a superking with 2 mattresses as we don't like same kind, also means if other half moves I don't! Where I live it's the standard size for a double bed, so no problem with bedding, but all my sheets & duvet covers come from Ikea
