Can you help with zoom issues?

I went to open a meeting (for me & one other) this morning and zoom said something about me being logged in from an unrecognised device & to type in the verification code from an email sent to me. So I did this and started the meeting. We were only chatting for 10mins when it said we had only 10mins left and I had to pay to upgrade if we wanted to stay longer. I thought this is BS because I regularly use zoom to talk for ages with no fee. So I logged out and logged in again & started a new meeting and the same thing happened again!

So I logged out fully & tried to set up a new zoom account with a different email, and again it says type in the verification code, only no code was ever sent. I had to give up in the end and just use whatsapp video. Do you have any idea what was going on & what I can do to stop it happening again? I've never had these issues before.

I don’t know about the rest of it, but Zoom changed this and restricted call time for their free accounts from last week.

Was it only 10 mins you were chatting for? Zoom have changed the time limit on their free account this week so even meetings with just two people have a 40 minute time limit.

It felt like 10mins, we'd barely got started. Perhaps I'm wrong there. That's shit then, so no more long freebie chats. I wonder why I've not heard this change talked about..

I've just had to pay to upgrade to pro. I was pissed off at first but then I thought it was fair enough as I'd had free access for over 2 years. So maybe that's why people aren't talking about it. Because it's reasonable.

If it's just a chat, end the meeting and restart it. You don't need a new meeting ID. Then the clock starts again.

If it's just a few of you can't you use WhatsApp video? Or FaceTime?

My company recently switched to Microsoft Teams for online meetings, I wonder if this was the reason why.
