What's the communication app for nursery school called?

Does anyone know what the app is that nursery schools use for communicating with parents and sending photos of activities, messages about food/naps etc? I was wondering whether something similar could be used for dementia patients in secure hospitals and care homes to keep families updated.

Ours uses Tapestry

Sazacha · 08/05/2022 10:54

Depends what nursery you go to. They're all different. Ours is called iConnect.

Sunnyshoeshine · 08/05/2022 10:54

There are a few different ones. When we looked around nurseries for DD, the majority used either Tapestry or EYLog.

Yes, Tapestry here, too. I think it’s a good idea, in theory, but fear that the staff/resident ratios and sheer labour intensiveness of looking after residents in care homes will make that sort of input impossible.

My ideal ratio for elderly/dementia care would be 1: 3 or 4 at all times to give the quality of care that is really required, and time to engage properly with residents and enable photos, notes for family etc. But of course that will never happen.

Thank you. I know it might be too big an ask - it's just been really hard to find out what's happening day to day for my job-verbal mum who is currently on a section 2 in a locked ward.

The nursery our children go to is called Family

Argh - the APP used by the nursery our children go to is called Family.

Excuse the missing words meaning the sentence makes no sense!

olympicsrock · 08/05/2022 12:31

Tapestry here. A nice idea but honestly they probably haven’t got time.

I’m sorry about the situation your Mum is in. It must be so hard. Are regular visits allowed, or are you too far away?

I think it’s actually “Famly” without the i, if it’s the same one we had.

Our school uses one called Seesaw.

Thank you for asking. We visit, but visiting hours are limited so it has to be at weekends. The issue is that as mum can't really speak any more, she can't tell us how she is or what she's been doing. When she was at home we were much better at guessing what she wanted to say because we knew what had happened during the day. Now that we don't know, it's really hard to work out and we don't get much handover feedback from the care staff. She will be transferring to a care home nearby soon, now that her drug regime has been sorted and she is calmer, so I will be able to visit every day. I know we are very lucky to have this.

They should be keeping notes. Each patient has their own file, and everything should be listed in there. Could you ask to see that?

mynameiscalypso · 09/05/2022 07:53

Ours use one called Blossom. I agree it sounds like an interesting idea.

RausageSoul · 09/05/2022 08:23

SeeSaw or MyLearningJournal

Thanks @HaveringWavering I never noticed it doesn’t have an ‘I’ in it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

When I was a mental health nurse our notes were computerised, relatives looking at notes wouldn't be allowed ,I would happily speak to a relative about concerns etc

I don't think staff will be deliberately not keeping you in the loop ,it's just the ward your mum will be on from my experience will be incredibly busy they should have weekly reviews for every patient though which you can ask to be invited to.
