If a 16 yr old asks for "gym clothes" for her birthday, what is she hoping for?

I'm just after a couple of suggestions re style / brand etc

(Personally I wear ancient leggings and various old race t-shirts to the gym, but it's possible that I'm not on the cutting edge of teen style)

Lululemon and sweaty Betty

Those ridiculous tracksuits from the 90's are back too - the Juicy couture ones Confused

Abcdefu · 07/05/2022 20:44

Gym shark. Some sort of matching co-ord set

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 07/05/2022 20:44

Gymshark is the love in our house.

That and my protein

Seamless leggins and sports bras with sports vests or t shirts

Nike pro is also a popular one

Crocky · 07/05/2022 20:45

I would think gym shark.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 07/05/2022 20:46

Gym shark!

RJnomore1 · 07/05/2022 20:46

Yep gym shark

Greyandgloom · 07/05/2022 20:47

Gym shark or Nike.

jackstini · 07/05/2022 20:47

Nike Pro and gym shark

Mainly black unless they specify differently

SheWoreYellow · 07/05/2022 20:47

Also Gilly Hicks at Hollister.

Looneytune253 · 07/05/2022 20:49

Is she actually planning on going to the gym tho I think that's an important point as to whether she wants to be mostly fashionable or functional

Flamingoose · 07/05/2022 20:52

Actual gym clothes. Not fashion clothes.
(Fashion-wise she's a bit punky, a bit 90s, lots of earrings, clumpy shoes, black t-shirts, home-made bags, too-short-trousers!)

Gym shark sounds like the winner. Never heard of them!! Off to google :)

Gym shark for sure.

Crossfitwidow · 07/05/2022 20:54

My protein do very similar gym wear to gymshark but a fraction of the price.

Louise0701 · 07/05/2022 20:56

Gym shark
my protein
nike pro

trtt · 07/05/2022 21:02

Gym shark or Bo and Tee - beware the Gym shark leggings get bobbly after washing them a few times

GregBrawlsInDogJail · 07/05/2022 21:08

I'd say a gymshark matching bra top and leggings set. Or Nike also works.

AuntieStella · 07/05/2022 21:09

YY to Gym Shark and Nike.

Uniqlo do good crop tops and some of their (tight) leggings are good, but swerve the rest.

2XU if she wants serious compression gear

Gilly Hicks at Hollister looks good, but I'm not sure how well it performs

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/05/2022 21:10

T K Maxx is good for gym stuff.

almondbran · 07/05/2022 21:17

Ask her if she’s seen anything in particular she likes even as a general example of style rather than specific items

Flamingoose · 07/05/2022 21:25

Thanks all. I'll know roughly what she might or might not wear when I see it. Will now hit the shops armed with a bit more brand knowledge than before.

gymshark is crap, go for Nike better quality

TonyBlairsLover · 07/05/2022 21:28

Does she like any sports teams? I’m a year older than ur DD so I could send you links to the stuff I own 🤷🏻‍♀️

Flavourflava · 07/05/2022 21:29

To echo everyone else: Gymshark. Nike. Gym + coffee. Myprotein. Lululemon.

MuthaHubbard · 07/05/2022 21:29

My 19yr old usually purchases from Abyl these days - similar to gym shark I think

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 07/05/2022 21:32

Dd is 17...she likes Aybl, Gym Shark and have recently got several bits from Bo + Tee who do some really lovely colours.
