A how long is a piece of sting question I guess, but if anyone has experience?
Our LA have just built us a new school. Large company contracted to build it to the LA specification. We got some input into how the space would be laid out, but not into the spec.
We moved in 2 months ago and it's bee a disaster.
- the paint finish is almost powdery, not at all durable or scrubbable
- mag locks pull open easily
- window latches snap off
- toilets don't flush properly
- work surfaces aren't level
- emergency stop buttons (eg DT) break off
Etc etc. Admittedly some is a result of rough treatment, in some cases deliberate damage, but it's a school, shouldn't it have been built to be robust?
Do you think it's the LA, who accepted a cheap spec to keep costs low or did the contractor cut corners?
