Anywhere to stay for group of 16 year olds?

Does anyone know where a group of 4 sixteen year olds can stay to celebrate the end of GCSE's. All fairly sensible, looking to walk up hills preferably for a few days. No transport. Youth hostels don't take unaccompanied groups. None of them interested in festivalling. They don't mind camping but would need bus routes to anywhere a bit rural.

Scottish Youth Hostels allow unaccompanied 16 year olds. A number are easily accessible by public transport - e.g. Crianlarich which you get to by train or bus (cheaper) from Glasgow in around 2 hours. Popular for hillwalking and also located on West Highland Way footpath.

YHA say you can stay from age 16

You could try talking to an independent B and B or camp site somewhere not too far away with a promise of collecting them if anything happens, so maybe within a 1 hour drive.

My DS stayed with friends at hostel in Pitlochry and did loads of walking. They caught the train there and used local buses as needed.

Petruth Paddocks www.petruthpaddocks.co.uk/book-u18-group/

DS really struggled to find anywhere last summer when he and all friends were 17. Most places wouldn't take a group like that.

Options he found -

Youth hostels - not always great for getting to. None of them had learnt to drive yet.

In the end he found a surfing hostel happy to take them in Newquay. He called up and asked, and she said she was happy to take them they just needed to pay a small cash deposit on arrival - she usually refuses under 18's due to issues with breakages etc in the past. So definitely worth giving places a call, rather than just going by what it says on the website

Edale is good in the peak district, campsites, train station (from Manchester), on the pennine way so plenty of safe routes. Did a similar thing with friends after A levels but we were all 18 so didn't check the age rule.

I know Borth yha takes 16yos. It's on the train and has good surfing.
I was looking at it recently for my eldest post-gcse... Then realised she's not 16 until just before the start of 6th form (august born). Suspect she'll be limited to camping for her post-gcse celebrations!
