Not mine thank goodness !!
DS (19) ....yeah ..don't ask!
He has been to minor injuries and then got sent to main A&E somewhere else .

Sorted and bandaged...

But ...he doesn't seem to have been given any after care ...and I was just wondering what we need to do ?
They said just keep bandage dry .

I was not there obviously...
But what should I be looking out for ?
There is a photo if anyone is upto it !!
He did head off this morning by himself... without any nagging by me ...so it was bad !!

Thanks .

Hi I'm a nurse, I would suggest your dd makes an appointment with the practice nurse for a dressing change in a couple of days. She's likely to need something like inadine and padding on it.

when mine was damaged and then fell off, i just carried on as normal, yes kept it wrapped in the day, then when at home unwrapped it to let the air heal or partly speed up healing to it.

The nail will regrow but it will take a little while and will be very sore I expect!

thatwasawetone · 06/05/2022 23:31

It'll regrow.

TMI alert but when I'm super stressed, sometimes I pull mine completely off 😳 don't ask, I don't want to explain.

It needs to be kept clean, dry and he must be super careful not to bang it.

If it starts looking or smelling funky, or oozing or feeling much, much more swollen and full of pressure then he may need antibiotics.

At first it's the pink soft tissue, but then as the days progress it starts to get hard, then the new nail begins to form.
