Online prescription sunglasses

Is it worth looking at online shops to get cheaper prescription sunglasses or stick with Specsavers??

I don't need normal glasses so don't need any 2 for 1 or free sunglasses offers so just wondering if there's a tried and tested cheaper way to get new sunnies?

I’ve bought prescription glasses and sunglasses online for years. They’ve been absolutely fine. I think my last pair of sunglasses were about £15 from Selectspecs with discount codes and they’ve lasted ages. I also like that you don’t get the hard sell from opticians with all the extras.

Stupid question: how do you know if they will suit you as you can't try on?!?

Some sites have virtual try on. Look at the measurements and you can compare them to your current glasses to get an idea. I always stick with shapes I know tend to suit me.

You can get a home trial from GlassesDirect. Select 4 frames, get them sent/return them free of charge. Keep going till you find frames you like. Order in your prescription.

Really recommend Glasses Direct. They often do a twofer so I get the same frame twice- one varifocal then Rx sunnies single vision (I can drive on single vision as my focal length means I can read the dashboard without varifocals).
It may feel like spam at first but sign up to email and you'll get promo codes constantly. Been really happy with them for me and DH for about seven years now.

Third (or fourth!) Glasses Direct.

I love the filter where you can put your own glasses measurements in (usually on the leg) and it sorts it for you to make it easier.

Ordered today with a great discount code for sunglasses! Trial frames arrived really quickly - bit annoying of course they weren't sunglasses so I'm not 100% sure they will suit with the darker lenses but it was a lot cheaper than Specsavers. Plus Specsavers wouldn't actually let me get glasses as prescription was over 2 years old but couldn't fit me in for an eye test for weeks and I need new sunnies now!
