Hoping to get away to Turkey this summer, anyone been lately and if so what’s it like post covid? Last time I went was before the pandemic hit the world and I wanted to know if there was any major changes I should be ready for x

We went over Easter. I love Turkey. Still has fabulous friendly people. We went AI and although Turkey is still cheap, to eat out etc by our standards it isn't as cheap as it used to be, but where will be now?

NeedAHoll · 06/05/2022 14:43

@jojogoesbust where did you stay? I’m thinking Marmaris as been before and it’s familiar to me. What sort of paperwork was required to enter? I understand if you’re not fully vaccinated then a negative PCR or Antigen test is required, did you need any other forms?

Hi. Yes we stayed in Marmaris, Green Nature resort and spa. Beautiful hotel. Re vaccinations, I think there was a requirement for PCR, but I know they are thinking of dropping it like Greece and Spain.
We did passenger locator forms but no one checked these, or Vaccination certificates!
Turkey is beautiful. Can't wait to return next year

I love the Olu Deniz area but haven't been since before the pandemic either. If you are on FB there are aa number o groups dedicated to Turkey and or specific locations within Turkey. Their inflation is running at about 50% so definitely not as (comparatively) cheap as it used to be but still great value.

It seems that there have been a few places charging silly prices when they think they can get away with it so check price before you ask for anything, which is always wise anyway. I think the majority are so glad to see us back that they are being even more lovely than normal but everywhere has its chancers.

I'm hoping to go in June but as I go alone I'm looking for a last minute bargain.

Hi, I'm just jumping in here as we have Turkey booked for July.
Google is a minefield- does anyone know if children are required to be vaccinated?

NeedAHoll · 06/05/2022 16:28

@FASDE1517 from what I’ve read no they don’t

We go July as well. Our eldest is 12 and we picked Turkey because vaccination not required but think at the moment anyway he would need a test to go. Need to check that again though as it might have been removed by now....here's hoping

I go in 3 weeks and didnt think there were testing requirements anymore? Cue panic stations........

We going to grand yazici marmaris palace AI never done AI before in turkey always SC but with kids AI seemed sensible

FASDE1517 · 06/05/2022 16:39

Thank you. That's what I thought but wasn't sure if that was going to change now that children have been offered the jab here. I'd rather avoid it for them so that's good news!

As far as I know a negative PCR/Antigen test is still required for those who aren’t fully vaccinated

Spot on hence my 12 year old will need a test before we go.

It’s nerve wracking because what happens if you get a positive test prior to travelling? Anyone been in that predicament?

We went in April. First time we have been and it was brilliant! We had a great time and planning on going back. You will love it.

It’s nerve wracking but you’d claim on your insurance (check it covers Covid) or rebook flights and hotels, if your bookings allow that.

I'll probably keep the 12 year old at home the week leading up to hols!
