Lived here for a year so shit has accumulated and I’ve been overwhelmed with work and life and suddenly I have 4h to get this done and I don’t know where to start

Luckily no furniture other then a divan bed which will go in one piece with everything to the storage unit

I have no idea where to start

i have 3 suitcases worth of clothes to get into one

pillows and bedding to get reduced to the smallest size

general books/Knick nacks/toiletries. 3 boxes worth to fit into 2

I need to hoover and clean the floor and skirting boards

wash 3 loads of laundry (machine is not in the house, separate building)

Please tell me how to get this done

Ignore the washing til this afternoon, and go get a service wash then.
Go to the nearest supermarket, and grab sticky tape, rubble bags (or strongest bin liners they have) and a couple of fruit boxes.

Put all washing in bags and set aside.
Spread the heavy stuff across the 4 boxes and suitcase.
Take bundles of coat hangers, tape the tops together, roll together, put in bin bag and add to heavy stuff boxes.
Stack in one corner, ad clean best you can in time remaining.

You can do this.

Maybe start by getting off Mumsnet?

Indeed

I don’t think suggesting the OP spends her time packing rather than being on the internet makes me moronic. It’s not hard. Pack stuff into boxes/bags/whatever. The more time you spend doing that instead of procrastinating the quicker the job will get done.

Sometimes the solution is quite simple. Idiot.

I tie a few books into a "parcel" using string, very easy to carry that way and will stack until they can be put away at the other end. Saves the boxes for other stuff

Drop the laundry idea. Unless you can guarantee that the newly-washed clothes are 100% dry before being put into storage, they'll probably smell of damp/possibly go a bit mouldy if you store them whilst slightly damp.

This. Better dirty and dry than damp and clean. You can wash them after storage. A month won't matter.

Do you know what, today, with everything else I have to deal with right now and leaving this place in the way I’m leaving. It was fucking hard, I just needed some help working out the best way to do it because my brain is fried right now and I was overwhelmed. But thanks for your help.

Thanks all, I followed all of the advise here and it’s done!

laundry room has a tumble drier so everything was washed, fully dried and packed last so I’m confident it was dry and I was ruthless in throwing shit out so it all came together in the end.

thank you again, I have so much going on right now and this just took me to the edge of burying my head in the sand so I appreciate the many handholds and help!
