Hi all. DP and I are planning a few nights in Birmingham. We've never been before. No kids, no car, will stay in city centre. We like the usual city stuff - walking, bit of shopping, pubs, good beer, restaurants (curry especially) with good food but nothing too flash

All advice welcome, pub and restaurant recommendations especially. Ta!

Definitely Shababs in the Balti triangle (Ladypool road) for amazing balti and table naan. Bring your own booze and book if it's the weekend. It's not plush so not the place for a quiet intimate dinner for two but the food is fantastic

You asked about pubs/bars in the Balti triangle, there aren't really any. My advice would be drinks in one of the bars in town mentioned on this thread or The Stag in Digbeth is nice. Then short taxi ride to Shababs stopping for byob drink on the way...there's no rush they serve food until 5am! Grin

Hi all, got a new request- any recommendations for pubs and restaurants in the Balti triangle? Ta

I usually end up at Lahore Village but it's not really a 'weekend away' sort of place. Amazing kebabs and grill but a canteen style, order at the till kind of place.

It's a Muslim area so no pubs. Moseley isn't far though and there's some nice pubs and bars there. You could even do Tipu Sultan - they don't serve alcohol but the food is good. More expensive than the classic balti triangle but always packed with Asian families which is usually a good sign.
