DC(9) on a residential trip, no photos of her. Should I contact to see if she’s ok?!

DC is on a residential trip with school this week at an outdoor active centre. First trip away from home, and she can get a little anxious sometimes.

There’s a parent App that’s being used to keep us all updated, as the only means of contact whilst they are away. Must be around 100 photos have gone up this week, and tomorrow is the last day, including large group photos.

not one single photo with my DC in it. I’ve seen her best friend on the pics, and she is nowhere to be seen. I’m getting worried(I could be hormonal as I’m pregnant).

Should I contact the teacher through the App to ask how she is doing? It’s lovely to see the other kids, but I’d love just one photo, even if it’s the back of her head so I can see she is doing ok!

@Soontobe60 All of that is completely irrelevant as to whether OP is worried about her child. If anything it creates the impression that teachers are too busy to deal with OPs child on trips and therefore something may have happened.

Op isn't complaining. She's worried. I think it's normal to be a bit worried and I think if you don't understand why a parent would be worried in this situation I'm not sure you have the empathy to be caring for them in a shool trip situation

I think OP your child is fine. I think these photo apps cause unnecessary worry. But the school has chosen to use them, and if a usually confident social child isn't in any of the photos when their friends it's normal to be concerned. It would make me concerned they were ill or had a falling out or just not doing well.

I would send a message OP. No one will giggle, it's most likely nothing and will put your mind at rest. It could be something as simple as she's getting a bit coach sick. If it is something mild you can prepare for it for when she gets home

My brother had a horrible time on a residential school trip and none of the teachers really noticed or cared. He got quite severely bulled by a child the teachers thought he was friends with, but actually bullied him day to day (which the staff had been made aware of and had promised to keep him away - instead they forced him to share a room). Teachers don't get everything right, things do happen.

OP, you are being ridiculous. If anything had happened, they would have been in touch pronto. Leave the teachers alone and let them do their job.

At the information meeting for my son's Y6 residential, they specifically asked us not to contact school if we couldn't see our child in a photo. They will be there and in good hands but it's not always possible to include every child in a photo.

This. If your child was unwell or had disappeared, do you not think that the teachers would have contacted you? Or do you think they would all come back from the trip and say 'oh yeah, we lost her on day 2?'. Teachers have enough to do on a school trip than answer pestering parents calling because they're hooked to social media. Wait for her to come back and let her tell you all about it.
