Twinkle twinkle I'm so dense!

I'm 41 years old and have only just realised that the alphabet song is to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star. DS age 2 was singing it (without words, his speech is a bit delayed) and I was all excited he'd learnt a new song at nursery, when DH pointed out it sounded exactly the same as twinkle twinkle which he's known for a while! Anyone else never twigged they're the same?

Baa baa black sheep is very similar to Twinkle twinkle little star but definitely different.

Hot cross buns is not very much like Three blind mice when I sing them...

But I agree, it took me some time to twig about the alphabet song!

Up until the age of 36 l thought Mozart had written Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when he was 5.

I'm in my 60s and don't sing the alphabet song to the same tune as Twinkle Twinkle. I suspect that over the years people have started using the Twinkle Twinkle tune because it was more familiar.

The first two lines of Baa Baa Black Sheep and Twinkle Twinkle are similar, but the rest isn't.

And Three Blind Mice and Hot Cross Buns aren't at all the same. I have heard people singing the first three words of HCB to the tune of TBM but the rest of it doesn't work at all.
