DS10 is in hospital after having an appendectomy. It was rather a difficult op as his appendix had ruptured and the infection had spread quite a lot. Op was Tues evening, we've been in hospital.since Sunday night but his test results and presentation were inconclusive hence the delay to the op. He started feeling ill last thursday but none of his symptoms seemed to be appendicitis- type. Fast forward to post-op, he's on IV antibiotics, morphine drip, IV paracetamol, fluids, catheter, nil by mouth etc. His temp keeps spiking amd his tummy hurts. I've been ok till now but we just got woken up by the doc to take some blood as they're worried about his temp and want to check some things, and it's just all got on top of me. Seeing him in pain, knowing he is going to take a while to recover because of how messy his insides were, worrying if the infection is still present. Its horrible. I'm so worried about him and so sad for him that he feels so rough. And he's being so stoic. I just want to cuddle him and I can't even do that because of all the tubes. Gah.

It is really hard to see our dc in pain.
I hope you get some sleep, are you in chair or do you have a bed?
He sounds well cared for at present.

It's really hard seeing your little one in pain and sick in hospital. FX you're all home again soon.

Handhold for you. My DS is a bit older than yours and he had his appendix out in February. Was a scary time. I hope your boy gets better soon 💐

Just a hand hold from me. It sounds like they are on top of it and he's in good hands.

How stressful for you all.

He's in the right place and they know the reason why he is unwell. I hope he starts to feel better soon. Children that age often heal so much better than adults do.

So sorry! My so. Recently had a ruptured appendix and it was awful! The pain after wards was hire bad as his too was a nasty rupture and they had to clean it all out. In hospital about a week.
He is 14 and was quite needy after the op and struggled to walk. How ever, two months on I've is back to normal and fighting for! It's awful though isn't it!? All the best!

Sorry for typos as just woke up! Temperature was high like your sons. They will look after him abs are on it! My son was on over anti biiotics for a few days! It is exhausting for you both!

Thanks @clarasara it's really good to hear from someone whose son went through the same thing. Glad to hear he's back to normal now.

Thanks all, he's hanging in there and so brave but it will be a slow recovery according to the staff here.
