I remember holidays in caravans (we were lucky!) on a site - But they weren't those big ones with bathrooms & electricity, they had a small kitchen cubby area with a little cooker (camping gas) no fridge & water my ddad had to fill up. My parent slept on the bed that during the day was a table with 2 cushioned benches either side that you pushed down at night. We got there by train with dad clumping off with 2 enormous cases & my dm & big s carrying baskets with food stuff ect. DD2 & I carried are buckets & spades. DM made us new skirts for the holiday & we wore shorts & tea shirts. We spent most of the day on the beaches & had sandwiches (cornbeef, spam or cheese) with a fresh whole tomato & a whole boiled egg in a shell & drank orange squash or in my parents case a flask of tea.
So what are others memories of holidays in their childhood? give us some funny ones!
I started this because of a link to another page which had nothing to do with holidays but the subject came up & it made me smile
