Low calorie but delicious sweet treats

I've successfully lost over a stone and am now trying to maintain it. I wanted a cookie today and M&S was the nearest place. A cookie was 344 calories which seemed a lot!

Does anyone have any secret low calorie treats they've discovered? My go-to at home is an Oreo as it's only 52 calories and satisfies my sweet tooth.

(Even better if it's something I can pick up from a city centre on my way home!)

These are awesome!

The other flavours not so great though.

I love mint chocolate! Are they from supermarkets?

Mango really satisfies my sweet cravings and it’s only about 60 kcal for 100 grams. Plus good for your health.

The mint chocolate bars are available from most discount stores (b&m, farm foods, Iceland, heron, home bargains, pound shop) etc.

SmallSoupcon · 04/05/2022 15:05

Strawberries dipped in a tiny amount of dark chocolate taste ridiculously indulgent for what they are. Mini meringues are 15 cals each.

You will find that if you don't eat processed sugar at all and limit the amount of other sugar you consume.. then fruit will satisfy this craving .. dates with almond butter, ideally having to cut open the dates and make them yourself will slow down the process. I see that you said... ideally something you can pick up when you are out.. have some snacks with you at all times to avoid this.. a handful of nuts, rice cake, bread sticks.

mackthepony · 04/05/2022 15:07

Homemade apple compote, no sugar added. I make it really thick. Healthy too

linerforlife · 04/05/2022 15:07

I really like rich tea fingers. They're less than 30 cals each so I can have a few with a cuppa and it feels like a treat.

I had a whole tub of peppers, cucumber, tomatoes etc but they didn't hit the mark this time!

Dark chocolate is another suggestion..

PinkArt · 04/05/2022 17:00

I've found knowing roughly what 100 cals of chocolate is helps. It's something like a two finger kit kat, one twix finger, a fun size bar or bag of most things, a club etc. Not as healthy as the mango or date suggestions but when I'm calorie counting it means I can easily factor in something sweet without accidentally undoing all the hard work.

Iamclearlyamug · 04/05/2022 17:24

Meringue nests! Incredibly sweet and only about 50 calories for a small one 😊

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 04/05/2022 17:28

These greek yogurt ice-creams are lovely. I think they're about 80 cals each.

A few dried apricots and a square of dark chocolate/5 mini choc eggs with a cup of tea.

PurpleDaisies · 04/05/2022 17:42

Four squares of whatever the guest chocolate here is. That’s usually about 100-150 cals which for me is totally worth it.

WhyPaulMemory · 04/05/2022 17:44

This is a bit niche, but I love frozen raspberries! A small bowl is about 50 cals, and they last for a while as you're sucking them like a boiled sweet.

For a proper sugar hit I like a Tunnocks tea cake - only 100cals, and they're not something I really want more of at once.

Thefaroeislands · 04/05/2022 17:46

Kallo blueberry rice cakes 37 calories each and sainsburys rocket ice lollies 46 each.

Marty13 · 04/05/2022 17:47

I love low fat unsweetened thick yogurt. Usually add a bit of honey or chocolate sauce.

bluechameleon · 04/05/2022 17:50

A solero is about 100 calories, as is a Tunnocks teacake, a kitkat, a blue riband, 2 Maryland cookies. Clubs are just over 100. Lots of the little bags of biscuits like iced gems, mini cookies etc are 100 calories because they aim to be "lunchbox friendly". A standard chocolate mousse is also about 100 calories. A whole pack of Mikado biscuits is under 200.

buckeejit · 04/05/2022 17:54

A pink & white mallow wafer is 50 calories but too sweet so if you carefully lift the lid & smear a wee bit of peanut butter under it, is a lovely big treat for 70 cals approx

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 04/05/2022 17:54

Apparently a de-stoned Mejoul date rolled in good quality cocoa powder tastes like chocolate fudge!
