Drink water, give the antibiotics time to work, and get some cranberry juice if you can. A warm compress help to take the edge off while the meds are kicking in. So sorry for you! They’re horribly painful. 💐

How long have you been on the antibiotics OP? They can take time to kick in but if it's been more than 48 hours and absolutely no improvement I would speak again with the GP, especially if the back pain worsens.

UTI's are appalling, there's no way around it. Drink like there's no tomorrow (not caffeine, citrus juices, no alcohol obviously). Take paracetamol/ibuprofen regularly.

Hot water bottle might help the abdominal pain, I would avoid spending time in the bath.

If things are very sore down there you can fill a jug with water and pour onto yourself while you wee, which helps the stinging and the supermarket/chemist will sell cystitis sachets of sodium citrate that can be helpful, they reduce the acidity of the urine and therefore reduce the burning sensations.

Get well soon!!

Marshmallow root and slippery elm supplements can help soothe the bladder. Also aloe Vera juice

It sounds like the infection might have gone into your kidney if your back is painful and you feel sick. If you are feeling worse I think you should go back to your GP. Have you been on antibiotics for 8 days and have just been given different ones ?

I agree with this. I had recurrent UTIs in my last pregnancy, with one my GP took the piss in arranging a prescription, by the time I started taking them it had already spread to my kidneys. Same symptoms as you, back pain and vomiting. I was so ill. I ended up in A+E and had to have a different course of antibiotics.
