See what I did there? ;)

  1. Accidentally cracking a rotten egg. Actually gagged at this one.

  2. The bag of duck weed I got through the post this morning. I can still smell it.

  3. Removing a forgotten mooncup.

@Bouledeneige I'd say dried sick is one of the worst too

elfycat · 04/05/2022 14:11

Necrotising faciitis (flesh eating bug).

It's a really pungent sweet-sickly smell that I will never forget and sadly the patient did not recover

takingmytimeonmyride · 04/05/2022 14:11

Rotten potatoes.

The landfill site near here, it's up a hill so when I cycle last I have to take deep breathes and try not to puke from the awful smell.

I agree about plug in air fresheners too, they hurt my nose and give me a headache.

Not sure I actually want to be on this thread. Will hide it!

I might join you!

Trigger warning you may puke reading this.

A dog I once looked after had diarrhea, ate (drank?Confused) the diarrhea then puked it back up again. That was definitely the worst thing I've ever smelled.

ctd11 · 04/05/2022 14:19

My babies sick now he's on solids 🤢🤢💤

BlackeyedSusan · 04/05/2022 14:21

Cress grown in a box with no ventilation

FIZZYTEDDY · 04/05/2022 14:21

@drinkingwineoutofamug I can relate to most of these and I'm presuming you also work in healthcare 😂😂

Fungating Tumor very nasty

Once emptied an abdominal surgical drain...wasn't expecting this funky smell that had been lingering all day to be coming from there....so took a massive whiff of it....nearly fell over with the smell

Rahrahrahrahannoyed · 04/05/2022 14:21

Rotten raw chicken also,
the butchers, rotten old potato

DB’s Lab’s farts. Indescribably vile.

I know the type, they kind of burn into the back of your nose.

ToiletGambles · 04/05/2022 14:23

I'm joining the rotten potato club, worst smell ever! 🤮

JoeGoldberg · 04/05/2022 14:23

Anal glands of dogs. That takes some beating. Also agree with the hidden rotten potato smell. Also dead rodent when you don't know where it died and have looked everywhere and realise it's probably being a skirting board and you're stuck with that smell for a long time.

Dead rat.

A relative with dementia who wore the same clothes for fourteen days in a row at the height of summer, including sleeping in them and refusing to wash the same amount time. He had "capacity" according to social services and doctor so nothing was allowed to be done about it.

It was so extreme on the last day that it was eye watering. Several family members tried, some more gently than others. We ended up "accidentally" pouring (cold) tomato soup over them when serving it and got them into the shower that way as we didn't want them to be "scalded" so had to make sure it was off them. The sores on their body from not washing or changing for that long ...!! How a doctor and social worker could have allowed that I don't know. We complained afterwards and "they hadn't realised that it was that bad." despite being contacted many times during that fortnight 😒

Dog shit is the worst smell ever imo. I'd never have a dog for that reason alone.

Mostly it’s not too bad when left in tact. It’s when you step in it that it really stinks. I always wonder what other people feed their stinky dogs as my own dogs offerings never smelt terrible.

lifeissweet · 04/05/2022 14:31

A cat food pouch that had got punctured and gone rancid.

I opened it. The baby burst into tears and the cat legged it and didn't come back for a year.

The smell took about a week to go.

rubydoobydoo · 04/05/2022 14:42

I have smelt, and had to spend some time in the same room as, a decomposing human body. This was during a warm June and they had died 3 weeks before being discovered.

Although it obviously wasn't pleasant, I can honestly say the smell when my cat's abscess burst was much worse!

AxolotlEars · 04/05/2022 14:42

The smell of your freezer that has defrosted, while you were on a month long holiday, full of food.

choosername1234 · 04/05/2022 14:42

Accidentally opening a rotten coconut. Truly unbelievable stench

SunflowerSmith · 04/05/2022 14:47

Abattoirs, I sometimes walk past one and the smell of poo, blood and fear mixed together is awful.

peachescariad · 04/05/2022 14:47

Year 8s dissection pluck in science lab bin (that's the lungs, heart, liver, trachea, esophagus and tongue of a pig). Double bagged...placed in bin Friday but bins not emptied by school cleaner....Monday morning, smell down science corridor was vile.

Tlollj · 04/05/2022 14:49

A discarded shin pad under the front seat of a car.

Sweetleftfood · 04/05/2022 14:51

On holiday once my dog got hold of alive clam or some other shell and when I finally got it off him I put it in my handbag (for some bizarre reason) and then of course forgot about me. A few days later and it stank and had maggots coming out of it. I had to get rid of that handbag

Theblacksheepandme · 04/05/2022 14:54

My Uncle Bill.
