Magic type story for boys when Harry Potter is too old

I need a boys type worst witch book for my soon to be 6 year old. ( I read those as a child, not sure what age?) He likes pictures still. Really into Halloween,wizards, spells, but in reality gets scared easily.

Not yet because they have scary bits but when he's less easily scared, 7-9 ish, then he will love the Magyk series, mine did.
