As due to the cost of living crisis, me and my partner cannot afford to go this year!

Can any of you afford to go?

We went away away (abroad) at Easter, we don't tend to go away over summer as love in a holiday area.

Will.also go to a festival, plus maybe a few weekends away, camping etc.

MissusMaisel · 03/05/2022 22:54

Yes. Spending twice as much as usual as we haven't been away in 3 years properly due to Covid. 2 weeks ultra all inclusive in the sun...bliss

Harridan1981 · 03/05/2022 22:54

Will be booking for next Easter shortly

Yes we have 2 holidays booked so far. Might squeeze another one in.

DebiNewberry1997 · 03/05/2022 22:58

No, but that's normal. I earn a good wage but we've been abroad once in the last decade and one not-visiting-relatives/going to a wedding holiday. It's not that common to go abroad or on holiday every year.

Halfarsedjingler · 03/05/2022 23:02

Yes we've had a good run work wise this year so have booked a nicer holiday than usual, but haven't been since 2019.

Singinghollybob · 03/05/2022 23:02

Yes we've got 3 booked, luckily we can cut back in other areas if need be.

RedMake88 · 03/05/2022 23:03

Yes we’ve been lucky went away abroad in July 2020, then again last year and we’ll go away twice this year. I have friends who have been skiing, away over Easter, they’ll go away in Summer and Oct half term! Ridiculous!

PriamFarrl · 03/05/2022 23:06

Yes. We did but it we last had a holiday booked in March 2020. Thankfully we got every penny back so I put it to one side and it paid for our holiday this year.

Overthebow · 03/05/2022 23:07

Yes, we’re going on two short holidays abroad this year, and one UK holiday. It will be my toddlers first time on an airplane. None of the holidays are expensive options though, all less than £500 per person.

SunflowerSmith · 03/05/2022 23:09

Yes, I'm not going abroad though because I prefer holidays in the UK so will have a few breaks in this country.

shiningstar2 · 03/05/2022 23:13

Yes. Booking tomorrow to go on cruise. Haven't been abroad in 3 years. We are 70 now. Lucky to be in reasonable health and still have each other. If not now when.

Deadringer · 03/05/2022 23:15

We went to Rome in February and so glad we did, no chance of another holiday this year.

TheChosenTwo · 03/05/2022 23:18

Yes. Last 2 years we’ve stuck to U.K. holidays but this year we are going abroad for the first time since 2019.
Have go do during the summer holidays as I work in school and the 2 oldest dc now count as adults. Only dc3 is still classed as a child. Although this doesn’t seem to make a massive difference in terms of flight costs. Will hopefully get a week in October half term too, depends on dh being able to take time off at the moment.

notacooldad · 03/05/2022 23:18

Yes, although my children are young adults we are taking them and their partners on holiday ( at different times) the boys have had a lot of expenses with buying new houses they havent had much spare cash.
Me and Dh are also going away by ourselves for 3cwwwks on October.

FfeminyddCymraeg · 03/05/2022 23:18

Yes! We just came back from a week in Europe over Easter and we have 2 weeks booked for the start of the summer holidays. The latter was a bargain as a we’d resigned ourselves to no holiday abroad this summer - our previously booked one was starting to cost £££ due to insane flight prices.

TenoringBehind · 03/05/2022 23:25

Yes but we haven’t had a holiday or even any nights away since 2019.

whiteroseredrose · 03/05/2022 23:28

Yes. Going to Sicily in September.

We were supposed to go in 2020 but obviously had to cancel.

It is actually cheaper than it would have been because DC are now at Uni so we can go in September, out of school holidays.

70kid · 03/05/2022 23:33

Yes
already had 2 weeks in Tenerife
have a week in Greece in May and planning on 2 weeks in Gran Canaria in September
but it’s just me and DH

Sunnytwobridges · 03/05/2022 23:33

I haven't been on holiday in years, like 5 years and that wasn't abroad. Can't afford it. Have been affected by company downsizing a couple of times and I'm single so still struggling to stay afloat. Will have a few short staycations tho, and will be fine with that. :)

Homemadearmy · 03/05/2022 23:34

@Undertheoldlindentree , I feel the same, sad for my children. Hoildays are for other people. holidays are not something that's affordable. Not even UK holidays either. But it's not something that's different since the price increase.

Silkierabbit · 03/05/2022 23:36

We could afford to go but I am doing chemotherapy and that probably rules it out.

Olsi109 · 04/05/2022 06:49

Teacher too so would have to be in school holidays - have the money but we've chosen to forgo this year and next in order to save and buy a bigger house as we had another child during COVID. We have a UK one booked for may and will probably get an air bnb for summer too. We went every year before COVID so missing it a little but it's fine, we are prioritising other things.

reluctantbrit · 04/05/2022 07:26

Yes, we already went abroad before Easter, used vouchers from cancelled holiday in 2020.

We did UK holidays in the last 4 years and really want a nice resort with guaranteed good weather and just hang out and enjoy a different country, we have health difficulties for me and DD since 9 months and ongoing, we need a break where we don't need to think.

Traumdeuter · 04/05/2022 07:28

Yes, but we haven’t been since 2019 and had a baby in late 2020 so there’s been enough staying at home and saving money to build up a bit of a holiday spending pot. Anxious about going overseas with a toddler though, & might wait until he is old enough to really appreciate it.
