Waiting for job interview response

Had an interview last Thursday. It’s obviously been the bank holiday but I would have expected to hear back by now. Do you think it’s a no? I hate the anxiety and the waiting. 😞

Unless you caught them at the very end of the process it could be weeks. They'll have other CV's to review and other candidates to interview.

Were you told it was the final round of interviews?

Barleysugar86 · 03/05/2022 16:05

I've had a wait of two weeks before before being offered... depends on the industry and employer- larger companies often take longer to agree what they are offering and get sign off. Don't lose heart yet!

They said they would be starting second round of interviews next week

It really depends on what their process is. As a hiring manager I would ideally try to go back verbally to a successful candidate within 24 hours of the interview, with a written offer to follow. But that is assuming a process where all the candidates are interviewed on the same day.

As a candidate I would also always ask after the interview about the timeline for decision-making, if the interviewers don't bring it up. Usually they will tell you if they have further candidates to see before making a decision.

How long would you give it before emailing to ask for feedback? I need the “no” so I can move on with my life. I also don’t want to push them away if they are still considering me though. I hate this job stuff

I would not ask for feedback unless I’ve been told I didn’t get the job.

This. And since you were in the first round of interviews, be prepared to wait quite some time (weeks to months) before you know. Keep interviewing elsewhere.

Job hunting is a bit like house hunting. You don't want to get hung up on one choice.

I gave a first round interview on 24th March and and still waiting. Second rounds were supposed to be two weeks later. I think I didn't get the job as I would've thought they would've snapped me up. I asked two if their HR whether there was any progress in the hiring process and radio silence from them. This company is meant to be number 1 in its field. So disappointed in their hiring process though.

I hope you get an answer soon @mommydragonn. I don’t know why these companies just go silent. It makes an already stressful process so much more stressful!
