DD has alway worn DM Chelsea boots. Her new secondary school that she's due to start in September does not allow boots.
I don't know what's fashionable these days for girls!

DD wears DM t-bar type shoes, she's not fussed about fashion but I've seen a few other girls in them!

dementedpixie · 02/05/2022 18:23

My dd wore brogues

Mungojerry69 · 02/05/2022 18:23

Black lace ups from next

I'm going to have the same issue in Sept and am thinking a chunky loafer but DD may have other ideas. She's not into fashion but v v worried about fitting in. I may go and scope out what the current Y7 are wearing at chucking out time!!

Scoose · 02/05/2022 18:25

My dd wears t bar dr martens shoes too they are the only shoes she hasn't destroyed after a few weeks! Love them!

PhantomErik · 02/05/2022 18:25

Black lace up brogues from New Look / Next / M&S as do pretty much all of her friends.

OppsUpsSide · 02/05/2022 18:28

Mine have these

DM shoes (lace ups)

nearlyspringyay · 02/05/2022 18:45

DM shoes - lace up 3 holes

KindergartenKop · 02/05/2022 18:48

If I were you I'd check with some current parents about what styles are allowed. DM shoes are probably fine but I know several parents who have bought their kids the trainery end of black shoes and the kids have been in trouble! OppsUpsSide's suggestion wouldn't be allowed in some schools.

Skinnyunderneath · 02/05/2022 18:52

Size 6. The style of shoes my daughter's school allows is very very limited. She wears brogue type lace ups, all black, no colour allowed Inc stitching and no logos. Finding some that fit the criteria, are comfortable and she doesn't mind wearing is a nightmare!

gaggiagirl · 02/05/2022 19:43

This is very helpful thank you
It's so difficult because part of me thinks she can wear what she chooses within reason and part of me wants her to follow the crowd, not stand out, be the same etc

Brogues or black Adidas superstars

reluctantbrit · 02/05/2022 20:14

DD has these:

She says most wear lace ups, some have loafers but DD tried for one term and complained that she slipped out very soon.

DD's school is very strict and no trainer style ones are allowed, they have to look like formal style shoes.

My 11 year old is still in primary. She is wearing black patent brogues which is what her older sister was wearing at secondary. Also leather brogues, a pair of kickers (shoes not boots)

this year DD1 (15) is wearing the shoes OppsUpsSide showed. I don’t think they meet the uniform rules, but she always wears trousers so less obvious, and the agreement between us was that If school pushed back, she would buy a different pair of acceptable shoes from her own money.

motogirl · 02/05/2022 20:38

Dd had shoes from Clark's - chunky soles and prominent stitching wasn't allowed (private)

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/05/2022 20:40

Mine is still at Primary and just wears black Nike trainers (completely black) as they are allowed to.

No idea what we will do when she starts Secondary.

gaggiagirl · 02/05/2022 20:43

I've shown her picture of all the shoes mentioned and she likes the lace up 3 eye DMs. I hope at least 50 other girls in her year group wear them! It's difficult to get her to entertain most styles of footwear.

My Y6 has patent brogues. She had similar a couple of years back and would prefer a loafer for secondary but they don’t seem to fit her so she will probably have similar next year too.

LondonWolf · 02/05/2022 20:45

Kickers. She's year 10 now but has worn them all the way up as do multiple girls at her school.

troppibambini6 · 02/05/2022 20:50

Clarks patent brogues.
He school won't allow kickers, anything with a logo, loafers, anything without a strap across the foot or anything that looks like any kind of trainer... don't even get me started on coat rules.

pooktline · 02/05/2022 20:51

Black Air Force 1 or converse depending on how she feels each day.

Newnormal99 · 02/05/2022 20:52

My daughter in Y10 also has the ones linked by @OppsUpsSide. Her schools uniform
Is not very formal though - shirt tie and jumper but no blazer.

Y7 she wore red or dead ones similar to the kickers ones (but they did not last well at all) and after that Clarkes brogues.

MoiraQueen · 02/05/2022 20:56

Adidas Superstars or black Nikes, she has also worn DM style T-Bars. The no boot rule is so petty, our school allows trainers, but no ankle boots (and no coats!).
