Silver Wedding Anniversary gift ideas

I'm looking for a silver anniversary gift for friends. Ideally nothing too traditional, maybe something cool or quirky that still honours the event.

Up to around £100? I'd consider more for something fabulous.

Thanks for any ideas Grin

I don't think you can ever go wrong with a silver photo frame.
Plant for the garden (if they have one) with a silver themed name?

MeridasMum · 02/05/2022 14:00

Good ideas so far, thank you

Oh no not the dreaded photo frame! I think I still have one or two, still boxed, from my wedding 19 years ago!
How about a painting or cool framed poster if you feel confident about their tastes. There are also interesting ceramic fruit bowls. Check out Etsy.

A vase, wine decanter, silver photo frame or a really large household mirror?

We got about five bottles of champagne, five bottles of expensive wine, money from my parents, a photo frame which was taking a chance but actually we liked it, and a John Lewis voucher. So all very welcome and nothing weird. Honestly though most people have got what they want after 25 years

FannyCann · 02/05/2022 16:28

Well it's my 25th next week and any of those would be most welcome. Are you my friend OP??? Smile

Another one saying no to a photo frame!
How about matching His and hers watches in a silver colour?

As an example

Silver themed plant - rose or clematis, nice pot/trellis/planter too.
DDad bought dMum a silver medal for putting up with him for theirs, but I guess that's spousal privilege 😂

Chemenger · 02/05/2022 17:09

We got engraved his and hers silver golf ball markers, but that is very niche. We didn't get many presents because, as a PP says, we don't need anything and all our friends and family know we are madly decluttering to downsize. I think everything else was consumable, mostly champagne.

There is a silver anniversary rise I think. It book them onto a silver clay craft course together

MeridasMum · 02/05/2022 19:02

Wow those are really striking. Worth a thought. Thanks

Silver clay craft course is a great suggestion especially if they like doing things together!
Something for their house like a throw blanket or pillow.
Also if there are any wedding photos or their family pictures (like posted online) you can make a wedding anniversary video with them.

teacherorpreacher · 04/05/2022 09:50

How about a caricature of there wedding photo. I have a friend that does them ( he charges us mates rates £30.) But if you google in your area might have to pay a bit more. Put it in a frame and voila an original gift. Hope that helps

teacherorpreacher · 04/05/2022 09:52

Sorry their wedding photo. Don't want to get pulled up by the spelling police😀

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 04/05/2022 10:08

I'd go for something small to keep eg a silver wedding rose if they have a garden then some consumables eg Silver Patron if they like Tequila. There are also silver gins and vodkas - just Google .
After 25 years, they've probably amassed enough clutter so no more photo frames or niche artwork they might not like.
Unless you know they are short of something like a decent vase. LSA worth looking at.

We were given a framed quotation similar to the link below by our kids last year. Hopefully my photo will upload.

I think they bought it unframed, online, then framed it themselves. They also bought us a wedding photo jigsaw!

We also got a silver wedding rose bush and a sun dial with a SW quote on.

The personalised picture has our names and wedding date at the bottom, but I obviously didn’t want that on the photo!

Plants for anniversaries are a really nice idea (if you've got a garden, obvs) - the symbolism of something growing and blossoming over the years. I'd love a good quality David Austin rose, or something quirkier in a beautiful planter? Planters are expensive and they can always refill it with something else. Maybe throw in some organic weedkiller with it, though - symbolism's all well and good when the plant's flourishing, not so much if it withers within three weeks of the anniversary...
