Can anyone recommend a a upmarket bar that will be nice and busy and buzzing on a Friday night? Are people tipping out of offices at 6 p.m. around that part of town or has working from home killed that? Planning a weekend in London and staying in a hotel nearby.

Would you not venture a little further afield? So many nice places to drink.

As a Londoner who did a decade + of after works drinks in Central London, I'd never choose that as my criteria for upmarket drinks Shock

There are lots of nice bars round there. Take a look at the Ned, various different bars and restaurants under one roof.

Madison Rooftop is also good McInnes stunning view of St. Paul's cathedral

Second The Ned. Although it's noisy, with it being such a large space.

So many bars in that area but The Ned has the wow factor.

There are (almost) no office workers having after work drinks on Fridays any more but the bars are still busy with visitors.

Oh there are also bars at Sky Garden (in the Walkie Talkie building) which is between Bank and Fenchurch Street but on a Friday night it'll be rammed, unless you book the posh(er) bar in advance.

Worked on Old Broad Street for many years.
Tower 42 or walk up the road to New Change and you have Madison.

We had drinks at 5 oclock with business mates at after a meeting last week at the Tokenhouse, which isn't far from Bank. The whole area was quiet and the bar was too. We actually had a really nice time there, were able to chat and the staff were fab.

I don't go to London often and was really struck by how quiet it was. The Strand was fairly quiet too.

The Ned

AnnaSW1 · 01/05/2022 19:04

The Ned is the obvious choice

The Ned or Coq d’Argent

AnnaSW1 · 01/05/2022 20:06

I can't go to or recommend coq d'argent. Too many people have commit suicide there for it to be relaxing.it's always on my mind

The Ned
Madison (although it always used to be known as a bit of a 'cattle market'
Dirty Martini in Wood Street

I was in the office in Wood Street last weekend. Finished about 4 pm and couldn't believe how many people were about!
