I would've been a little girl. It was around the years 2006-2009. That's a rough estimate.

Basically, if you were looking at holidays, you'd turn on this channel and the holiday deal and where it was, what it looked like etc and what was included in the price, such as all inclusive etc, was talked about

I remember my aunt saying to my mum 'it's not this, one minute I think our one might come on again'.

And it did. She said ahh yes this is the one we've booked for us all!

I think it might've been Thomson's (now TUI).

Between each holiday it had a little theme music, something along the lines of 'daaaa, dardy dardy daaa'

Does anyone remember this?!

Ceefax?

Manyface · 30/04/2022 21:01

Teletext holidays?

HollywoodTease · 30/04/2022 21:01

Teletext holidays

Redglitter · 30/04/2022 21:01

Definitely sounds like Ceefax. It was so annoying if the page turned before you were ready and you had to wait for it to come round again

Comefromaway · 30/04/2022 21:02

i think it was called The Holiday Channel on cable TV

Comefromaway · 30/04/2022 21:02

It wasn’t ceefax/teletext. They had holidays but text onky. These were narrated videos.

Antarcticant · 30/04/2022 21:02

This?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday_%26_Cruise_TV

Comefromaway · 30/04/2022 21:03

Think QVC but for holidays.

hayleybau · 30/04/2022 21:04

It certainly wasn't as old looking as what Ceefax appears on YouTube?

Another clue to it, I remember a woman speaking about the holiday over the videos of the actual holiday destination and talking you through what was included

It was definitely in full coloured video, a bit like someone talking to you about 'A place in the Sun' but it was all real holidays

If it’s the one I remember the dates are too late. The one I remember was late 1990’s

Echobelly · 30/04/2022 21:06

I don't remember that but sounds entirely plausible as a cable channel

hayleybau · 30/04/2022 21:08

Holiday and Cruise TV appears to be too late. Their wiki page says it was launched in 2011. I know for a fact it wasn't then as family passed away who took us away on holiday to these places every year

It was always Cyprus, Tunisia, Spain. Those types

Was it the TV programme presented by Judith Chalmers?

Comefromaway · 30/04/2022 21:12

I graduated in 1996 and between then and when I moved house in 2002 we had cable TV. I watched this channel between those dates.

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 30/04/2022 21:12

Was it the TV programme presented by Judith Chalmers?

That was called Wish You Were Here and was a very different format.

Mellowyellow222 · 30/04/2022 21:20

ceefax

There used to be stories as well - I remember reading them when I was about 12.

Comefromaway · 30/04/2022 21:22

Ceefax was pages full of text. These were holiday commercials with voiceovers.

hayleybau · 30/04/2022 21:23

OMG I found it!!! The music that's been playing in my head for years!!!!

It was a Thompson advert it seems
