Womb/Uterine Cancer

My step-mum is 50 and has been experiencing spotting and lower back pain. After getting checked out by her GP, she’s been referred to the hospital as the GP could feel something in her uterus. She’s had fibroids before so hopefully it’s fibroids again. But she’s overweight and has Type 2 diabetes, which I believe is a contributing factor for womb cancer. She’s even more worried that the appointment was literally scheduled for a week after her initial appointment, but she’s rearranged it as she’s going on holiday 🙄.

I’m worrying, thinking that it’s cancer. If it was (suspected) fibroids, would the referral be so urgent?

It could be a range of things, many which are not cancer. If there's any chance it is though, that's probably why the urgent referral, to make sure.

It could be a range of things. I've had similar symptoms & it turned out to be nothing gynae related, but liver issues. Hopefully she'll get some answers quickly.
