Hi all,

I placed an online shop with sainsburys Wednesday evening after taking my mental health medication. I dissociate a lot and I've bought stuff that I wouldn't usually buy. Actually when I looked at my shopping it looks like someone else's entirely.

Please help me work out what on earth I can make for meals, especially using all the seasonings, im a very plain person so why on earth I've bought all this I have no idea. I am willing to try new things and im ok with flavour but not too good with spicy food.

Im going to Morrisons in the next hour to get things to go with this random shop. Any idea of things I can get or recipes would be really really appreciated.

Also, what is bread and butter pudding like because it sounds disgusting.

Thanks

Just put most of it in the freezer and use them one or two at a time over the next fortnight.

Meal wise you have lots of cheese, spices and sides for a curry, do you have any basics in to work with? Pasta, rice, tinned beans or pulses, chopped tomato's,eggs? You've got hot dogs and rolls, a bit of fruit but no veg or what I would call 'proper meat' to combine with your spices etc to make actual meals.
On the positive side, you're good for snacks and lunches if you grab a bit of salad stuff! I'd probably get some pickled gherkins to go with your cheese!
How many people are you feeding?

just cancel it or amend it?

My favourite pudding!

It is buttered bread and sultanas, with egg custard poured over it and then cooked. You will need to heat up the version you have and can serve with cream.

It would have been delivered / is out for delivery. Sainsbury's don't send you your receipt until this point.

Yes it's not really a proper shop. There's no meats and stuff for meals.

I done it at night for the next day and felt far to guilty to refuse my shopping because I'd been a bit loopy.

I have now got some chicken so maybe an Indian dish? I have rice too.

I'll try the bread pudding thing, is it not just going to be soggy bread?

In the old days, it was how you used up stale bread. You baked it in the oven when the oven was on for something else. Hot and filling, so great for hungry kids in winter.

Good bread and butter pudding is yummy.

Bread and butter pudding is indeed heavesome, sorry! It’s wet stodgy bread layered up with custard 😖
the idea of it breaks me out in a cold sweat 😰

Yes, sadly bread and butter pudding is vile. There's no salvaging that one, I'm afraid.

Hopefully you can make use of the rest of it and freeze some of it if need be.

or the nappies...

That's a good selection of spices for carrot soup -- if you could enjoy carrot soup.

Could give the spices away on my local facebook easily, if you can't face the spice flavours. Cumin is the most acquired taste, I find.

If you have pasta there's an epic macaroni cheese in that lot! I'd use the harissa with your chicken, is it a paste? Serve with rice with a few of the pomegranate seeds stirred through, any veg?

AtleastitsnotMonday · 01/05/2022 19:38

Just seen you have onions, finely chop them, fry them off and add to the rice too.

BBC food's recipe finder used to be handy for this sort of thing - you can enter ingredients and it searches for recipes that include them all.
