It wouldn't be as good, surely. Live music was so untamed back then. It would be like comparing the original Glastonbury with Coachella. Who is today's Freddie mercury?

I reckon we would want:
The Killers
Lizzo
Foo Fighters
Gaga
Fleetwood Mac reunion

Tragically no Amy Winehouse for the lineup

Georgeskitchen · 28/04/2022 21:28

The only person in my opinion who could match Freddie Mercury for pure talent is George Michael and sadly they are both gone xx

Ops1 · 28/04/2022 21:31

Ed Sheehan he does everything

Ed Sheehan he does everything

He does,he pops up everywhere.

Im thinking Adele [if she can be bothered]
Taylor Swift [boring]

Macca would do a 15 minute Hey Jude as the finale.

tillytoodles1 · 28/04/2022 21:42

I don't think there's anyone left who could match the original lineup.

BeneficiaryMadness · 28/04/2022 21:42

I was at the Love Manchester concert and remember saying to my daughter it was probably the closest thing she would get to Live Aid!

wantmy · 28/04/2022 21:43

There would be no Freddie. And he was the iconic performance of LiveAid.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 28/04/2022 21:46

Billie Eilish

Innocenta · 28/04/2022 21:49

No one can compare to Freddie.

Confusion101 · 28/04/2022 21:51

Pink
Coldplay
The Killers
Bon Jovi
Mumford & Sons

EachandEveryone · 28/04/2022 21:54

Honestly there is nothing to compare it to. I love been 17. I feel like I have lived through so much good music. All my idols are dead now. I suppose we would hope for some reunions like Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles. Macca would be there and probably the Stones. Its depressing really. Im going to Glasto this year and for the first time Im meh about the line up.

Dont forget Coldplay, they would be all over it😃

Anjo2011 · 28/04/2022 21:55

The usual suspects that seem to rock up everywhere now. There will never be another line up like Live Aid, not even anywhere near. This is who I think ( not who I like) 😂

Little Mix
Noel/Liam
George Ezra
Four of the Spice Girls, Vicky B would still opt out.
Olly Murs

Yes this was a brilliant event. I remember watching it and reading the mumsnet thread at the same time and lots of posters were comparing it to live aid.
I was 7 when live aid was on and I remember being at a friends party and her parents were recording live aid which meant the tv was all fuzzy -random
I also remember thinking most of the acts seemed really old (status quo hall and Oates etc even freddie) but I bet they were younger than I am now !!

Florenz · 28/04/2022 22:05

There would be much, much less interest. Musicians were the biggest stars back then, they have fallen a long way down the celebrity pecking order.

Jellykat · 28/04/2022 22:09

Harry Styles would be in there
Adam Lambert possibly with Queen
Mabel
Defo Coldplay
maybe Tears for fears for us oldies Grin

jollygreenpea · 28/04/2022 23:06

What a depressing line up that would be.

jollygreenpea · 28/04/2022 23:07

I meant this line up, I clearly messed up trying to add it

EachandEveryone · 29/04/2022 18:11

Its just horrible, isnt it? How did music get so mainstream?

WarmFunKindStrong · 29/04/2022 19:01

Dua Lipa
Beyonce

100problems · 29/04/2022 19:43

The bloody Quo
The remnants of Queen specifically with Brian wanging his nob guitar
Macca natch
St Bono

Not so much Live Aid as much as How Are They Still Going Aid

There isn't even a Concorde now to get Phil to NY

Coldplay
Robbie and the remains of Take That
Liam (he could fall out of a helicopter to make up for no Concorde)
Noel
Adele would be on the bill then flunk out
Ed

Fuck me it would be depressing. My 17 year old self would cringe to the death.

100problems · 29/04/2022 19:44

And they'd have Fearne Cotton, Grimmy and Davina doing the BBC commentary

StCharlotte · 29/04/2022 19:48

I used to love these events. I wouldn't even bother watching.
