What clothes size are Levi's jeans?

I've had a google and I'm still not definite and don't really want to place an order for the wrong size!

I want to buy some Levi's 311 jeans. I'm size 12-14, closer to 14. Would this be the 31 size?

size 31 is up to a 31 inch waist, which I think is about a size 12. Measure your waist and buy whatever size your waist is in inches.

I am used to buying jeans etc in a particular waist size, so a size 31 to me seems as if it's their 31in waist. What that translates to in womens' sizing I have absolutely no idea. Levi's might be expensive but by heck they last a long time. My black 501s are now 7yo and still look as new.

I'm not going to be much help I'm afraid as I have 3 pairs of Levi's bought from either John Lewis or a Levi's shop and they are all different sizes 29, 30 and 31 yet fit me perfectly. I'm a bit like you size wise in that I'm between a 12/14 on the bottom and would probably go for the 31 especially if the ones you are wanting to buy are mid rise. Generally I find that if high rise jeans are a bit tight they end up being fine, but tight mid rise jeans do me no favours as I end up with a muffin top
