Is there anyway I can join Whats App without all the contacts in my phone knowing?

I have business numbers for work on my personal phone and I don't want them to start contacting me by WhatsApp at all.

I know you can make groups but I just don't want work things to be involve at all.

A second phone number is not an option.

Or would WhatsApp work on an IPad without phone numbers?

Please help my menopausal head. Thanks

No WhatsApp doesn't notify anyone. Some of the others such as telegraph and Signal do, but WhatsApp does not.

FWIW I have all have all my business contacts on my phone and none of them has ever contacted me on WhatsApp

It may not notify people but if someone looks you up on WhatsApp you'll show in their list of contacts. You could block all non personal contacts though? If they ask, you can tell them you only use WhatsApp for personal matters so have all business contacts blocked as standard.

This is what I hate about WhatsApp. If you have someone's number saved and they have yours then automatically they will see you on their list and see your profile pic etc. I'd rather opt into having someone as a WhatsApp contact ! Blocking feels harsh but maybe it's the only way around it as you can block purely on WhatsApp and still be contactable via message/phone.

Yes, you can just go through and block them if you think they're likely to contact you
