Eye tests and the teeny tiny line of letters at the bottom…

Can anyone actually read those letters that resemble ants??! I had a test today and realised that I don’t think I ever have in 35 years of eye exams 🤓

I can with my glasses on! Grin

FourChimneys · 27/04/2022 21:35

I can with one eye, not with the other one.

pizzaand · 27/04/2022 21:36

I can with my bins on, I can't even read the top letter without them Grin

They always say 'Feck Arse' or 'Drink'.

DoubleGauze · 27/04/2022 21:39

I could. Until I reached the age of 38.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/04/2022 21:42

Yes but only with one eye. The other one can't even read the top letter by itself Sad

ureterr1blemuriel · 27/04/2022 21:44

Wow - with or without glasses that’s very impressive!

I’m -9.5 in one eye and can’t even see my own reflection in a mirror! 😆

They’re not always the same size on different charts…
i have a computer based charts and my smallest are weeny, yet I’d say around 2% or patents can see them - I have to go nearer to be able to tell if they’re right as I don’t know those off my heart.

if you’ve heard of 20/20 vision most people can see a line below that. My smallest line is three below 20/20.

ShinyPikachu · 27/04/2022 21:46

I used to but not sure I can now as my eyes are definitely not quite what they used to be. I'm overdue an eye test though so thanks for the reminder. Grin

ButtockUp · 27/04/2022 21:50

Without glasses, nothing at all.

AzazaelsFury · 27/04/2022 22:13

Yes I have always been able to, probably test once every few years and always get the result that I have 20/20 vision. All my kids have glasses for reading as does my husband (since his early 30s we are both now early 40s).

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/04/2022 22:16

Never. -9.50 and -10... without my glasses I couldn't tell where the chart is!!

Antarcticant · 27/04/2022 22:18

Without my glasses I can't even read the big letter at the top. Sad

RagzRebooted · 27/04/2022 22:19

I thought most people weren't supposed to be able to read the bottom line?

DrBrennerFan · 27/04/2022 22:22

Top letter only, with those glasses with holes sometimes the 2nd line but only one letter have always been like this. Registered blind.

justasking111 · 27/04/2022 22:23

At the eye clinic I've never been able to read the bottom few lines. Had a cataract surgery five weeks ago, still can't see it and it's a big backlit machine

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/04/2022 22:30

I could with my right eye up until my most recent eye test, so until I was 54. Nowhere close to the bottom with my left eye.

SirenSays · 28/04/2022 01:55

Never could. Not even at school when my vision was "perfect"

KloppsTeeth · 28/04/2022 02:01

Pixiedust1234 · 27/04/2022 21:42

Yes but only with one eye. The other one can't even read the top letter by itself Sad

Snap! @Pixiedust1234 I am mid 40s and can read the bottom row of letters with one eye, but can only make out the shape of the big letter with the other, so it is a guess. Caused massive problems ever trying to see 3D. I just can’t see it!

Ozgirl75 · 28/04/2022 04:48

I also can with my contacts in but the whole thing bar the top couple of lines is a blur without them.

GlasswareisOverated · 28/04/2022 05:53

Yes I can. Last opticians visit I got told to stop wearing reading glasses as I don't need them. Yet.

Deathraystare · 28/04/2022 08:13

Nope. I would be guessing although as I cannot make it out at all goodness knows what letters I would guess! My eyes are terrible - Diabetes. Getting worse.

eosmum · 28/04/2022 08:18

I can even read the "made in China" from 20 feet, but not from two feet without my glasses.
