Help me find a dress please!

We have goodwood revival tickets for September (luckily got VIP tickets from one of my dads friends.) and I've been told the dress code is something similar to 'peaky blinders,' I don't own anything like this. And it's quite strict?

Can someone please help me find a dress? Im size 8 and not really fussy. I'm trying to look through the pictures on google and it looks a bit gangsters and molls.

Any suggestions or if anyones been to the revival please let me know. I will be the only female as I'm going with my dad and DH and younger brother so can't ask anybody what they're wearing!

Thank you :)

Google peaky blinders women's costumes and you'll see plenty of options. Sounds like good fun!

Pretty dress company is great for vintage-y frocks that could be reused. Probably more 1950's than Peaky Blinders but I think that's more in keeping with Goodwood

The TV show is set in the 1920's, so anything flapper would suit. Am I correct that you are supposed to be in character or just a nice dress? I'd hire a flapper dress and buy/hire the accessories- unless you'd wear it again? Get a bobbed wig, long beads, headband and feather, one of those long, cigarette holders etc.

I went to a gangster/20's party a few years ago. I bought a long, slinky nightie from a charity shop. It wasn't obvious it was a nightie! Borrowed my nans, fake fur stole and got the accessories online.

I was just about to paste a link to Ro Rox Boutique! I bought a gorgeous dress from them recently. Great quality and perfect if you want flapper-style.

You don't have to dress up to go to Goodwood, so don't feel pressured to get a dress if it's not your thing.

When I went lots of people were in WW2 army style clothes, others dressed in 50's, 60s and 70s style, and plenty in normal clothes.

Just pick an era you fancy and go with it.

Not 1920s, that's too early. The Revival is celebrating Goodwood's glamorous motoring period from 1948-1966. Dress code is optional for all but the Paddock area so not everyone dresses up. This site gives lots of ideas for different periods. this

There are usually lots of land girl, army, and trouser suit outfits, it isn't just dresses.

I won tickets for the revival last year. I was not prepared for how amazing people looked ! I felt completely underdressed even though I had made an effort. The dress code seems to be taken very seriously.

That's good to know thank you!
We're the womens hair & make up done on the same fashion too?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions & links. Going to have a look through today and get something ordered. I do like a dress up and don't get to do it often now I've had a baby. I do want to get something I will wear more than once to try or looking to rent one is a good idea. Thank you all!

@GeminiTwin yes hair make up, the works. I was in awe!! I felt like crying and going home though as I hated my outfit in the end !! I won tickets through work and only had a few weeks to cobble an outfit together, I think some people plan their outfit all year.

Good to know, thank you! I've got DDs christening end of September too so trying to get a dress I could wear for both. I'll post pics of what I've found (one of them is from a link above)

@GeminiTwin love them especially the green one, I looked at a similar one on line. I went for a more tailored look and ended up looking like I was at a funeral !! If I ever went again, I'd go for a dress like these.

I thought it was 1920s
