Teen admitting weed smoking to GP

I wonder if anyone can advise.

If a 15-year old (boy) sees his GP about some mental health issues and mentions that he sometimes smokes weed, would the GP be obliged to get social services or other agencies involved?

Or would they get help with mental health and information on how cannabis can be bad for mental health especially in teenagers with no SS referral?

They won’t get SS involved.

they may get a referral to CAHMS but waiting lists are long and, ime, they are pretty useless anyway.

Young minds were really helpful in advising on ways to get help, where to seek help etc. way more helpful than GP tbh. Getting my DC to engage was the difficult bit. Is there a pastoral care dept at school you could also contact? Young minds has a teen and a parent section.

@Wouldntitbenicetobeinyourshoes I thought that would be the case, but wanted to double-check. Thanks for the advice, all very useful. Best wishes.
