Are You already booked up, or are you free?

I will be in France for the week making the most of the extra days off.

JaninaDuszejko · 27/04/2022 20:04

We're going to Wales for half term.

My DCs schools have random days off in lieu of the extra bank holiday so this Friday I'm going bowling with DS. DDs school has time off after half term.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 27/04/2022 20:05

I am working all weekend....nurse....lucky me!

Libertaire · 27/04/2022 20:09

I’ll be working that week including both BHs, thank goodness. Anything to get away from all the jubilee BS. I am NOT a royalist.

Oblomov22 · 27/04/2022 20:16

Booked last year, our caravan in Dorset.

weegiemum · 27/04/2022 20:17

Dh only has the Friday off, so not much. He couldn't get cover for the Monday so our idea of going to our holiday home hasn't worked out. Dd2 doesn't know if she's working yet, ds and dd1 are finished courses for the year by then. The last jubilee in 2012 was a bit of a damp squib here (Glasgow) - no one near us apart from one overdecorated house was interested. Not sure how it will play out post pandemic as our street were very enthusiastic clappers, and we had a "stay in your driveway" street party. So we'll see.

We are looking to go to Derbyshire for a couple of days, Premier Inn most likely as I don't plan to spend a fortune for a B&B.

yellowsuninthesky · 27/04/2022 21:25

Going away overseas. I have zero interest in [expletive] street parties.

TheGrumpiest · 27/04/2022 21:27

As soon as the plans for a street party in our village were made known I booked a remote cottage in the Highlands of Scotland 😂

Boscoforever · 27/04/2022 21:28

Tango you have your off duty that far in advance?!
I'm thinking of flying over to London. My sister lives in London, and I'd love to go to Buckingham Palace for the balcony celebrations...

Gladioli23 · 27/04/2022 21:38

Think there will be a day out and a dinner followed by a hungover day xD and then there's a big picnic planned which we intend to really go for.

I'm not massively royalist but I love an excuse for a bit of pomp and ceremony and this is a bit of British history really - assuming she makes it to the jubilee celebrations, at that point she'll be the second longest reigning monarch in the history of the world. If Charles inherits the throne fairly soonish we might see a silver jubilee in my lifetime but even that would require him to live to about 100. In reality it's more likely to be 20 years by which point William will be what 60, so he is reasonably likely to get a silver jubilee but I would be nearly 80 by then. So I figure I'll make the most of the pagentry!

On holiday as it’s half term. Back on the Friday, then off to see Liam Gallagher on the Saturday which won’t be messy at all.

JustBkind · 27/04/2022 21:53

Decking up the gazebo and having a good British garden party for family!! This is a historic moment! The chances of seeing another monarch rein for 70 years is beyond imaginable and certainly not for us and our off-spring! What an amazing experience for us!

Florin · 27/04/2022 21:55

Disappearing off to France for 10 days, 2 extra holiday days free!

CurryandSnuggle · 27/04/2022 21:58

Hopefully giving birth to my DD on the platinum jubilee itself 😁 (that’s her due date)

nildesparandum · 27/04/2022 21:58

Nothing out of the ordinary. I am not a royalist.

namechangeanonymous · 28/04/2022 06:27

Not a royalist but I am looking forward to seeing some of the pomp! Won't be doing much, will be 34 weeks pregnant at this point and am already feeling tierd and achy.

Pascha · 28/04/2022 06:30

Ds1 and dh are going racing, ds2 has cub camp. I will be blissfully free for a whole day and night. Can't wait.

Joystir59 · 28/04/2022 06:31

I'm running a mosaic making workshop on the 4th for a large mosaic mural celebrating village life- the villagers will be making some of the simpler elements of the mosaic.

voxnihili · 28/04/2022 06:37

On holiday in Cornwall. Booked before the jubilee bank holidays were announced. We knew it would be busy as it’s half term but now it will be even busier and it’s putting me off a bit.

KangarooKenny · 28/04/2022 06:39

I will be staying home, avoiding where everyone else is going.

TheElusivePotato · 28/04/2022 06:46

We’re away in the US so will miss it all. I noticed a couple of people mentioned Monday - the bank holidays are Thursday and Friday (I’ve had to remind a couple of people at work about this too).

MeanderingGently · 28/04/2022 06:51

I will be working. I'm quite pleased really, as my workplace is organising a huge outdoor tea party; bunting, band, Pimm's, the lot. Nice to be part of it even if I will be serving/clearing up.....no-one round our way will be doing street parties (rural farmers and the like!) so I shall at least be involved. And being paid for it!

soupmaker · 28/04/2022 06:54

Me and the DCs flying to Belfast to see pals we've not seen since before lockdown. DH might be working. Didn't exactly think this through as we're not royalists!

BeaLola · 28/04/2022 06:55

Away up to Thurs as it's half term & then we have street party on the Friday , probably family visit on Sat/Sunday
