Water heater temperature. How hot is yours?

We have our immersion heater set at 40 degrees but the water seems really hot and nearly scalds my hand if I keep it under the tsp for more than a few seconds. The thermostat has been checked and is working correctly so we’ve turned it down to 30 to see how it goes. Not sure if it will be hot enough to have a bath. What temperature is yours set at? Looking online it says to set at 60-65 to avoid bacteria like legionella in the tank. Would that really happen? That would be way too hot

That doesn't sound like the water is only 40 degrees if you can't keep your hands under it. My baths are more than 40!

Ours is set over 60⁰C

Ours is at 60 I think on boiler.

We used to keep it at 40C but the plumber told us it must be at 60C+ otherwise you can get Legionaire's disease.

We are having our boiler replaced this week so are using the immersion for hot water.
it is preset to 60° and this is comfy when mixed with a bit of cold.
googling gives a temp of 40° but I find that too cold..
