Chickenpox after vaccine?

5 replies

Hi all

My DD had her CP vaccine 7 days ago. Yesterday she woke up with quite a few spots and today she's covered .. no fever but she's itchy etc

I thought if they were to get CP it would be mild and not covered in the spots 🥲

Any tips for itchiness?

Thanks all

Calamine lotion?

I thought it was a 2 dose vaccine? Has she had both doses? I believe it can take up to 2 weeks for immunity to develop after vaccinations.

@3under4z Hi OP

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but I was just wondering what you did about the second vaccine? We are in the same position (I think DD was already exposed prior to getting vaccine as she broke out in full blown CP about 7 days after the vaccine).

Having trouble getting through to a GP to ask! I'm assuming that getting the full blown pox makes the second vaccine redundant but I'm not sure...

We had something similar. I called the place we had the vaccine booked at and they said there’s no point vaccinating now.
