Can anyone remember the name of this charity?

It was based on Christmas Day basically inviting lonely people to your house for dinner rather than them being alone. It was called extra chair or something but I can't find it?

I think it was inviting a lonely vulnerable person round for a meal once a week like for Sunday dinner

There was certainly a campaign - basically a Bisto advert- called Spare Chair Sunday.

And then John Lewis did something through one of their Xmas adverts butni don't remember a specific charity.

Spare a chair I think is what it was called

Sounds horrific - can you imagine being Lady Bountifulled while you’re labelled lonely and vulnerable?

I'm not trying to be Lady Anything I'm just considering helping a couple of people who are probably dreading Christmas because for someone like me with no kids or husband it's no bigger a deal than any other holiday so I may as well do something productive. I assure you I won't be spreading it thick on Facebook to show everyone how utterly amazing I am! I've found it now thanks to the bisto reference, cheers 👍

I think the charity behind it was age uk?

repeatplease · 27/04/2022 14:31

Not much help but there used to be adverts on London Transport asking people to drive//host old people once a month. Would London Transport be able to tell you the charity?

manysummersago · 27/04/2022 14:54

Sorry @TheRossatron - I didn’t mean you personally, just as a general idea it seems awful to me.

No worries. I think it's a great idea but only if it's done without being patronising and not doing it for social media praise.
