Have I poisoned us all?!

Took some sausage/chipolatas out of the freezer last night around 10pm. Popped them on the kitchen side with the intention of putting them in the fridge this morning. Got distracted, forgot, and so cooked them tonight around 6pm for tea.

Now googling and I have found out that it can be really dangerous (?) to leave sausages out on the side for more than 2 hours due to bacteria growing.

Have I given the whole family food poisoning?!

If you cooked them thoroughly, then don't worry.

Itwasntmeright · 26/04/2022 22:16

Nah, as long as you cooked them through thoroughly you’ll be fine. I defrost sausages out of the fridge all the time, I’m still here.

Theunamedcat · 26/04/2022 22:18

Did you have your heating on? My house especially my kitchen is bloody freezing still

LidlMissSunshine · 26/04/2022 22:19

You’ll be fine. DH once famously ate sausages that were ten days out of date and he was completely fine. It’s now a family legend.

One way to find out.

You'll either post tomorrow or you won't.

BeerLoas · 26/04/2022 22:19

Totally wouldn’t be bothered about this. Chill 🙂

Galaxygirl93 · 26/04/2022 22:25

Oh thank you all for putting my mind at ease.

Yes cooked thoroughly. House fairly cold although the sausages were by a window with sun on them for a bit 😁

I will relax now!

It also doesn't help that DH is travelling to London tomorrow - 2.5 hr car journey! So hopefully I haven't given him S&D!!

Oh I quite often leave sausages out at least overnight to defrost 😳

BeerLoas · 26/04/2022 22:32

So, Sausage sandwich for breakfast is it😂

SnowRoses · 26/04/2022 22:36

Lots of people leave food out the freezer over night
I dont cause i have severe OCD 🙈
But my family all do

magicstar1 · 26/04/2022 22:39

You’ll be grand. I had a thread on here years ago when DH saw I’d thrown a pack of sausages in the bin. They were well out of date and the pack was bulging with gas. He took them out of the bin, cooked and ate them.
I thought a bout of food poisoning would educate him, but he was perfectly fine.
