How to change careers to engineering or finance

So, having got 20-25 years left, time for a change. Looking at engineering or finance. Engineering was looking at RAF officer entry but health won’t allow the fitness test now.
Would this be a masters in engineering and then what would be the career pathway? Or an OU or online course whilst still working?
same for finance, would it be an apprenticeship type thing or getting more qualifications first? Could survive with no income for one year scraping by if needed for masters if could get a loan for the fees.

Finance is wide - do you want to be a bookeeper, a qualified accountant, a financial advisor, work in banking?

If you can be more specific - also indicate what stage of life you are eg past grad schemes etc - it might help.

Sorry just saw 20-25 years left so assume you are in your 40s?

If you are going in as an experienced hire i dont think it will be easy to get work experience. I would suggest spending the year off doing at least a basic acc / finance / tax qual and then apply to large firms or large corporates as an experienced hire.

It’s a bit vague OP. What experience/qualifications do you have? What do you mean by engineer? BT engineer? Chemical engineer?

Do finance, more useful and transferable.

U could probably get an apprenticeship and then get an employer to sponsor further study.

As a chartered engineer who has returned to the workplace after a career break, doing 5 more hours per week for half the money than I got before, do finance!

I have an engineering degree and work in finance. I would recommend d finance over engineering.
