Energy bills are so high!!

So we recieved our first bill after the increase and it is literally more then double the price we paid! I literally have no money to pay the bills! Has anyone else been in the same situation ? It’s unbelievable!!

The cap has "only" gone up by 50% so in theory it shouldn't go up by more than that. So much depends on what kind of tariff you are on and the company you are with. Ring them, look on Uswitch, don't assume there is nothing you can do,

Bills could well double, or even more than that if you've just come off a fix from a year or so ago as rates also went up in April 21, October 21 and April 22. Plus some people have signed up to a fix that is above the April 22 price cap rate (not recommended unless it's only a max of around 20% above) and may have debt on their account to repay.

But unfortunately, a lot of people will just have to absorb the increase, make cuts elsewhere and see their standard of living fall unless they can increase their income.

The other thing to check OP is that your bill is accurate not estimated and your direct debit is fair for your usage and any debt on your account. Not all are.
